Dante Exum Misses Entire Season Due to Injury

Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum will not be able to play for the entire season due to complications in his right knee that will require a new surgery, the team announced this Thursday. The Mavericks re-signed Exum with a one-year, $3.3 million contract in the offseason. However, the player never received medical clearance to train after the knee surgery he underwent in the summer. Exum, whose career has been affected by injuries, averaged 8.0 points and 2.8 assists in 75 games with Dallas in the previous two seasons. The Mavs would have to terminate Exum’s contract to create an available position on the roster. However, Dallas would not be able to sign any player until January 6 because they are limited by the second apron of the salary cap.
