Draymond Green Receives NBA Warning for Confrontation with a Fan

The Golden State Warriors’ power forward, Draymond Green, has been reprimanded by the NBA following an incident with a fan in New Orleans last Sunday night. The information, provided by a source, reveals that Green has not been fined, but has received a warning. The incident occurred after Green, following several offensive rebounds and missed shots in the first quarter, was the target of chants from a fan. The fan was shouting the name of Angel Reese, a WNBA player, at Green. Initially, Green reacted with laughter. However, after the chants were repeated, the player approached the fan during a break in the second quarter to confront him.

It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I have four children, one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman.

The fan, identified as Sam Green, 35 years old and a resident of New Orleans, stood during the interaction with Draymond Green. The exchange lasted several seconds before officer Courtney Kirkland intervened. The fan received a warning, but was not ejected. In subsequent statements, Draymond Green commented that the fan initially spoke, but stopped when he approached. Warriors coach Steve Kerr also commented on the incident.

As long as he doesn’t escalate, it’s okay for a player to go and have a conversation. It would have been good if security had arrived a little earlier.

This incident contrasts with other previous situations in which Green was financially sanctioned by the league.
