Draymond Green Receives NBA Warning After Incident with Fan

The NBA has issued a warning, but not a fine, to Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green following an altercation with a fan in New Orleans on Sunday night, according to a source familiar with the situation. The incident took place after Green had several possessions in the first quarter with offensive rebounds and missed shots. A fan yelled “Angel Reese” towards Green, who initially reacted with laughter. However, after the fan repeated the chant several times, Green approached to confront him on the baseline during a stoppage in the second quarter.

It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I have four children, one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman.

The fan, identified as Sam Green, 35 years old and a resident of New Orleans, stood up when Draymond Green approached. They interacted for several seconds before official Courtney Kirkland intervened. The fan received a warning, but was not ejected. In the past, Green has been fined by the league. In May 2022, he received a $25,000 fine for making gestures towards Memphis fans and another $25,000 fine in December 2022 for using obscene language towards a fan in Dallas. On this occasion, he was given a warning, but not a fine.

As long as he doesn’t escalate, it’s okay for a player to approach and have a conversation. It would have been good if security had arrived a little earlier.
