Zaidi, currently a special advisor to the Dodgers and known for his expertise in data analysis, is acting as a representative for Mark Walter, who is leading the ownership transition. Friedman, president of baseball operations for the Dodgers, is also involved, although in a minor role. Sources indicate that Friedman advises the Lakers’ president of basketball operations, Rob Pelinka.Zaidi and Friedman are functioning as high-level executives of TWG Sports, providing support to the Lakers following the completion of the team’s sale last month. Additionally, Zaidi has been advising the Los Angeles Sparks, a WNBA team owned by Walter and TWG Sports. On Thursday, the Lakers fired several members of their scouting department, including Joey and Jesse Buss. Walter’s approval as the new majority owner of the Lakers came on October 29, with the team’s sale valued at $10 billion.
