Dyson Daniels Secures His Future with the Atlanta Hawks

The talented Atlanta Hawks defensive guard, Dyson Daniels, has finalized a deal to extend his contract with the franchise for four years and $100 million, according to his agent, Daniel Moldovan of Lighthouse Sports Management. Daniels, recognized for his outstanding performance, was awarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player. In addition, he was a finalist for the Defensive Player of the Year award, was included in the All-Defense first team, and concluded last season with 229 steals, the highest figure in a season since Gary Payton in the 1995-96 campaign. The official announcement of the signing was made by the Hawks on Monday, although the terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Selected in the eighth position of the NBA draft in 2022, Daniels averaged 14.1 points (a notable increase from 5.8 in the 2023-24 season), 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.0 steals per game last season. He became the first player to average three steals since Alvin Robertson in the 1990-91 season. The Hawks acquired Daniels and a first-round pick from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Dejounte Murray in July 2024. The combination of Daniels’ defensive mindset with star point guard Trae Young has proven successful for Atlanta. Daniels has established himself as a key player for the Hawks, who also have Jalen Johnson and the first pick of the 2024 draft, Zaccharie Risacher, as pillars on the wings.
