Stephen Curry and other absent stars in the Warriors’ defeat against the Heat

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry did not participate in Wednesday night’s loss to the Miami Heat due to ankle discomfort. The match ended with a score of 110-96 in favor of the Heat. In addition to Curry, other key figures on the team, such as Jimmy Butler (back) and Draymond Green (illness), were also absent for the game. Curry initially twisted his right ankle on Friday night, during a performance where he scored 49 points in San Antonio. He suffered another similar mishap during the first half of Tuesday night’s loss in Orlando. Curry stated that he wanted to evaluate his ankle’s response after the plane trip and rest. The Warriors ruled him out six hours before the game against the Heat. The team expects his return on Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers in San Francisco. Butler is dealing with the same lower back discomfort that kept him from playing a game in Sacramento earlier this season. Wednesday marked his second visit to Miami since the Heat traded him to the Warriors in February. Substitute guard Buddy Hield, who was also dealing with an illness, played 31 minutes and scored 18 points, despite having been initially listed as questionable. The Warriors rested veteran center Al Horford on the second night of a back-to-back. Jonathan Kuminga, a forward in his fifth year, remains out due to knee tendinitis. This game marks the end of a demanding stretch of away games for the Warriors. They have played the most games in the league, with 17 in the first 29 days of the season, in 12 cities, including five back-to-backs, the most in the NBA. Their next five games will be at home.
