Coby White Misses First Weeks with Bulls Due to Injury

Chicago Bulls guard Coby White will be out of the courts for at least two more weeks, missing the start of the regular season against the Detroit Pistons this Wednesday. The information was confirmed by the team this Monday. White, who suffered a right calf strain during a training session in August, has not participated in the preseason. Although last Saturday he was able to train for the first time since the beginning of the camp, he still needs to regain his fitness, as he stated to the media. The team reported that White will continue with his activities on the court and is progressing in his recovery phase. At 25 years old, White has established himself as one of the team’s most important offensive players in the last two seasons, being a regular starter in the defense zone. Last season, he averaged 20.4 points, 4.5 assists, with 45% shooting efficiency and 37% on three-pointers, in 74 games. Also, White is in the final year of his three-year, $36 million contract, making him an unrestricted free agent this summer. During his absence, the Bulls have used Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu at the point guard position during the preseason.
