In an exciting NBA matchup, the Boston Celtics, led by Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, managed to halt the winning streak of the Detroit Pistons, who were aiming to set a new record for consecutive victories. The game, which ended with a score of 117-114 in favor of the Celtics, saw the Pistons squander the opportunity to surpass their own franchise record, shared with the championship teams of the 1989-90 and 2003-04 seasons. Jaylen Brown was the standout figure of the match, accumulating 33 points and 10 rebounds. Derrick White, for his part, contributed 27 points, scoring 11 in the final minutes of the game to secure the Celtics’ victory. Despite Cade Cunningham’s 42 points for the Pistons, the Celtics managed to prevail in a closely contested game.

We understand it’s a game, and we also understand that we didn’t play our best basketball. There were things we could have done better, and we still put ourselves in a position to have a chance at the end of the game. So, you know, all these things add up. We’re still learning, and hopefully, you know, we’re not as good now as we will be in April.

The game remained close until the end, with Cunningham being fouled near the middle of the court while attempting a three-pointer. Although he made the first two free throws, he missed the third. Payton Pritchard of the Celtics grabbed the rebound, was fouled, and made two crucial free throws with only 2.4 seconds left on the clock. Boston secured the victory by stealing a pass before Detroit could attempt a three-pointer to tie the score.

We all wanted this tonight, we all wanted 14 wins. I’m not going to act like it didn’t mean anything to us. It’s something important, we all wanted to be on that side of history, but it didn’t happen.

Cade Cunningham
Pritchard added 16 more points for the Celtics, who achieved their fifth victory in six games. The previous Monday, Detroit had tied the team’s record for consecutive wins by defeating Indiana.
