Cavaliers’ Max Strus Undergoes Surgery for Foot Fracture
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Max Strus underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot. The player is expected to be out for three to four months, the team announced on Tuesday.
Strus suffered the injury, a fracture in the bone that connects the pinky toe to the base of the foot, during recent preseason training.
The Cavs team announced that Strus is expected to resume basketball-related activities within three to four months.
Strus, 28, joined the Cavaliers two summers ago via a sign-and-trade deal for a four-year, $63 million contract. He has played a crucial role in Cleveland’s rise as a contender in the Eastern Conference over the past two years.
Last year, Strus also suffered an injury at the beginning of the season due to a right ankle sprain during training. He missed the first two months of the season before returning and averaging 9.4 points and 3.2 assists, with 38.6% effectiveness in 3-point shots.
Due to the estimated recovery time, Strus will miss at least the first few months of next season, which will begin for Cleveland on October 22.
