Cavaliers’ Max Strus Undergoes Surgery for Foot Fracture
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Max Strus underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot. The team announced he will be out for three to four months.
Strus suffered the injury, a fracture in the bone that connects the pinky toe to the base of the foot, during recent training in the preseason.
The 28-year-old player is expected to resume basketball-related activities within three to four months.
Strus joined the Cavaliers two summers ago via a four-year, $63 million sign-and-trade deal. He has played a crucial role in Cleveland’s rise as a contender in the Eastern Conference over the past two years.
Last season, Strus also missed the first two months due to a right ankle sprain suffered during training. He returned to average 9.4 points and 3.2 assists, with 38.6% effectiveness in three-point shots.
Due to his estimated recovery time, Strus will miss at least the first few months of next season, which for Cleveland will begin on October 22.
