Cavaliers’ Max Strus Undergoes Surgery for Foot Fracture
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Max Strus underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot. The team announced he will be out for three to four months.
Strus suffered the injury, a fracture in the bone that connects the pinky toe to the base of the foot, during recent preseason training.
The 28-year-old player is expected to return to basketball activities in a period of three to four months.
Strus joined the Cavaliers two summers ago via a sign-and-trade deal for four years and $63 million. He has played a key role in Cleveland’s rise as a contender in the Eastern Conference over the past two years.
Last season, Strus was also affected by a right ankle injury suffered during training. He missed the first two months of the season before returning and averaging 9.4 points and 3.2 assists, with 38.6% effectiveness in three-point shots.
His estimated recovery time indicates that he will miss at least the first few months of next season, which begins for Cleveland on October 22.
