Stephon Castle Headlines NBA All-Rookie First Team

San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle has stood out as the only unanimous selection for the season’s first All-Rookie team. The young player, who has demonstrated exceptional performance, was recognized for his impact on the court.

Castle, who averaged 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, was the only player to receive votes for the first team from the 100-member panel of global sports writers and broadcasters who cast their votes for the annual NBA awards.

In the first team, Castle was joined by Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher, who was one vote away from being unanimous, and Memphis teammates Jaylen Wells and Zach Edey, in addition to Washington’s Alex Sarr.

Castle played in 80 games as a rookie, starting 47, and led all rookies in total points (1,190), field goals made (423), and steals (74). In addition, he made more than 100 free throws (249) than any other first-year player. He became the first Spurs rookie since Tim Duncan to finish his first season in the top two on the team in both points and assists.

The selections for the second team were Kel’el Ware from Miami, Matas Buzelis from Chicago, Yves Missi from New Orleans, Donovan Clingan from Portland, and Bub Carrington from Washington.

Edey (73 votes for the first team, 27 for the second) joined Castle and Risacher as the only players who appeared on all 100 ballots. Wells was on 99 ballots, Sarr on 96, and Ware on 94.

Isaiah Collier from Utah was one point away from tying Carrington for the last spot on the second team.
