Knicks Secure Victory in Dallas with Brunson’s Return

The return of Jalen Brunson, after recovering from an ankle sprain, was crucial for the New York Knicks to obtain their first away win of the season, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 113-111. Brunson, who suffered a Grade 1 ankle sprain on November 12, missed two games against the Miami Heat. However, he once again demonstrated his ability to recover, performing at a high level. Brunson scored 28 points and provided the three-pointer that put the Knicks ahead in the last minute, assisting Landry Shamet. The game remained close until the last seconds, where an offensive foul by Brandon Williams prevented the Mavericks from tying the game.

It was the right decision. Because he grabbed Shamet’s left arm. I had a great view. I’m glad the referee saw it, but more importantly, I’m glad he made the right decision.

Mike Brown, coach of the Knicks
Brunson highlighted the importance of the victory, calling it “ugly” but significant for the team’s growth. Coach Brown praised Brunson for his leadership in key moments. The Knicks played without OG Anunoby, who suffered a hamstring injury and will be evaluated in two weeks. The Mavericks, for their part, were without Cooper Flagg and Anthony Davis, in addition to Kyrie Irving’s absence due to injury. Despite leading in the last quarter, the Mavericks failed to score in the final minutes of the game, allowing the Knicks to secure the victory.

These are the foundations of what we have to work on now. The sooner we improve on this, the better we will do in the long run. These are not pressure situations. This is what we work on. It’s what we do… let’s go out there and do it.

Jalen Brunson
Brunson, when asked about his ankle, stated that he felt “fantastic.” This was Brunson’s fourth game against Dallas, and this was his first victory.
