Devin Booker Secures His Future with the Suns: Million-Dollar Extension
Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker has agreed to a two-year, $145 million contract extension with the franchise, which will extend through the 2029-30 season. This deal represents the highest annual salary extension in NBA history.
Booker and Suns owner Mat Ishbia met in Las Vegas to finalize the contract, thus solidifying the organization’s leader’s commitment to the team’s long-term vision.
The annual salary of Booker’s extension, which amounts to $72.5 million, exceeds that of Oklahoma City Thunder player and NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who averages $71.25 million per year on his contract.
Booker, who was the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, has played all ten seasons of his career in Phoenix. This is his third contract extension, reaffirming his long-term commitment to the franchise.
Booker has publicly expressed his desire to play his entire career in Phoenix and bring a championship to the Suns.
Last season, Booker became the Suns’ all-time leading scorer.
Booker has averaged at least 25 points in each of the last seven seasons, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only NBA players to have achieved this feat.
