AJ Green Signs Million-Dollar Extension with the Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks guard AJ Green has agreed to a four-year, $45 million fully guaranteed contract extension with the franchise. The news was confirmed by agent Matt Bollero of ProMondo Sports.
Green represents a success story for the Bucks. He went from being undrafted in 2022 to earning a dual contract, then a standard contract, and now a lucrative long-term deal.
With this agreement, Green will be under contract with Milwaukee until the 2029-30 season, ensuring his stay on the team and preventing him from entering free agency next summer. This is a crucial bet, given that the 26-year-old player has established himself as an undisputed starter for Doc Rivers, ahead of the new season.
Last season, Green scored 541 points, surpassing the 406 points he accumulated in his first two NBA seasons. He averages 7.4 points per game and has stood out as one of the league’s elite shooters, with 42% effectiveness in three-point shots throughout his career. He has maintained a percentage of at least 40% in three-point shots in the three seasons he has been in the NBA.
Although Green has only started in eight regular season games, he proved his worth in the April playoffs. Rivers included him in the starting lineup for the crucial Game 5, and Green responded with 19 points in 46 minutes of play. His playoff production increased to 11.0 points, with an impressive 51% success rate on three-pointers.
In the past season, Green achieved a 42.7% three-point shooting efficiency, ranking as the sixth-best among players who attempted at least 300 three-pointers. Furthermore, his three-point shooting percentage in “catch-and-shoot” situations was 44.9%, the fifth-best among players with at least 250 attempts.
