Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon Suffers Grade 2 Hamstring Strain

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain in his right hamstring, according to reports. The team announced that Gordon will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks.

The injury occurred during the Nuggets’ away victory against the Houston Rockets last Friday. After undergoing an MRI on Saturday, the severity of the injury was confirmed.

Gordon joins Christian Braun, who will also be out for at least six weeks due to a sprained ankle suffered on November 12. This situation presents a challenge for the Nuggets, who will now need to adjust their strategy.

Gordon, who achieved a personal record of 50 points in the opening game against the Golden State Warriors, is averaging his best marks in points (18.8) and three-point percentage (44.4%) this season.

It’s one of seven players averaging 15 points with a 50-40-85 shooting percentage. Before Friday’s game, Gordon was already dealing with issues in both hamstrings.

In the Western Conference semifinals last season, Gordon played despite a Grade 2 strain in his left hamstring in Game 7.

The Nuggets, who reinforced their roster in the preseason, will now have to test their depth. Peyton Watson is expected to take on a more important role at the forward position, along with the key additions of Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas.

The Nuggets (12-4) are currently in second place in the Western Conference, behind the Thunder (16-1).
