Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon Suffers Grade 2 Hamstring Strain

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 tear in his right hamstring, according to sources close to the team.

The team has reported that Gordon will be reevaluated within four to six weeks.

The injury occurred during Friday’s victory against the Houston Rockets. After the game, an MRI was performed on Saturday, which confirmed the severity of the injury.

This absence adds to that of Christian Braun, who is expected to be out of the courts for at least six weeks due to a sprained ankle suffered on November 12.

Gordon had a standout start to the season, including a personal record of 50 points in the opening game against the Golden State Warriors. He became the sixth player to achieve this feat in an opening game.

So far this season, Gordon is averaging record numbers in points (18.8) and three-point percentage (44.4%). He is one of seven players averaging 15 points with a shooting percentage of 50-40-85.

Before Friday’s game, Gordon was already dealing with issues in both hamstrings. During last season’s Western Conference semifinals, he played with a grade 2 tear in his left hamstring in the seventh game.

The Nuggets have reinforced their roster in the preseason and will now have to test their depth. Peyton Watson is expected to take on a more important role at the forward position, along with the additions of Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas.

The Nuggets (12-4) are currently in second place in the Western Conference, behind the Thunder (16-1).
