Yunesky Maya Receives Honors in Santiago: Adopted Son of the City
The Santiago City Council, through its Council of Aldermen, has granted a well-deserved recognition to the outstanding pitcher Yunesky Maya, naming him Adoptive Son of the city. The distinction was formalized through Resolution No. 3494-25, in a gesture that celebrates his outstanding career in professional baseball and the values that characterize him. The official presentation of the recognition was made by Mayor Ulises Rodríguez, who emphasized the dedication, professionalism, and passion that Maya demonstrated during her time with the Águilas Cibaeñas. He recalled his arrival in Santiago in the 2015-2016 season, a moment when his career seemed to be at a critical point due to an injury. “I came to this city thinking that my career was over, but seeing this stadium I dreamed of pitching here. It was something very special, something incredible for me,” Maya shared. The resolution highlights the positive impact of Yunesky Maya on the development of local baseball and his strong connection with Santiago, the city that welcomed his talent and that he represented with pride.
