Yesid Pira Conquers the Mountain in the National Independence Cycling Tour

Guatemalan cyclist Yesid Pira demonstrated his superiority in the third stage of the 47th National Independence Cycling Tour, held between Santo Domingo and Rancho Arriba (San José de Ocoa), covering a distance of 158 kilometers. Pira, representative of the Hino One La Red team, won with a time of 3 hours, 40 minutes and 03 seconds in the demanding mountainous stage, consolidating his position as one of the favorites. The stage, which started from the Banreservas Tower with the official flag-off by the executive vice president of the entity, Fernando Mir, was marked by a frenetic pace from the beginning. The peloton stayed compact until reaching the final climb, where Pira launched a decisive attack, securing the victory with an eight-second lead over his compatriot and teammate, César Paredes, and Jorge Abreu of the R2R Cycling Team. Wilmar Paredes, from Team Medellín, crossed the finish line in fourth position, 16 seconds behind the winner, which allowed him to move up to the lead of the general classification.

On Saturday 28th, the penultimate stage will be held on the Santo Domingo–Circunvalación Santo Domingo Norte route (138 kilometers). The 47th edition of the race will conclude on Sunday, March 1st with a final circuit in the monumental area of Santiago. The event is organized by the Dominican Cycling Federation, chaired by Jorge Blas Díaz, and has the support of the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Sports, Banreservas, Seaboard, and Economic Dining Halls, among other institutions.
