Yankees Academy in Boca Chica Celebrates Graduation with Emphasis on Comprehensive Education

Boca Chica – The New York Yankees academy for Latin America held a new high school graduation ceremony. The event, held at its facilities in Boca Chica, reaffirms the organization’s commitment to the comprehensive training of its prospects and collaborators. The ceremony was led by Joel Lithgow, director of the Yankees academy for Latin America, and Melissa Hernández, assistant player development and education for the team, along with executives from the Apec Educational Credit Foundation (FUNDAPEC) and representatives from the organization’s educational department. This event became a moment of celebration for a group of young talents who completed their secondary studies while training in professional baseball.

“Today we celebrate more than an academic graduation. We celebrate the effort, discipline, and vision for the future of these young people who, in addition to pursuing their dreams of reaching the Major Leagues, understand that education is the basis for a full life with multiple opportunities”, expressed Lithgow.

The graduating class included prospects Eliezer Adames, Luis Miguel Burgos, Rubén Castillo, Eddison Charles, Leni Doñé, Oscar Vásquez, Josué Silvestre, Carlos Miguel Villarroel and Christopher Medina, as well as academy employee Santo Castillo Tejada, who also completed the academic program. Among the graduates, examples of dedication and self-improvement stand out, reflecting the program’s focus on integral development. In the ceremony, the importance of creating sports institutions that not only train athletes, but also citizens prepared for life, was emphasized. This purpose is fundamental in the Yankees Baseball Academy in the Dominican Republic, where players develop sports and academic skills in an environment designed for their complete development. Melissa Hernández, who leads the educational area of the academy and works directly with the prospects in their training processes, thanked the dedication of the teachers and the support of the allied educational institutions that have collaborated throughout the training process.

“Seeing these young people complete their high school studies fills us with pride. Education opens doors and is a solid foundation for their futures, whether inside or outside the diamonds,” expressed Hernández.

The Yankees’ academy in the Dominican Republic has traditionally integrated educational programs that allow its prospects to study and complete their studies while advancing in their sports training. This graduation is part of a tradition of the organization, which values the integral well-being of its players and fosters in them capabilities that transcend the playing field. Upon completion of the ceremony, the graduates received their diplomas and recognitions, reaffirming the academy’s mission to promote a comprehensive education that prepares its students to face the challenges of professional baseball and the demands of life outside of sports.
