Yankees Pay Tribute to 9/11 Victims

New York – The New York Yankees held a moving ceremony at Yankee Stadium, honoring the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001. The event featured the participation of key figures from the team and the presence of former President Donald J. Trump. Before the game, manager Aaron Boone, along with pitchers Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodón, laid a floral offering at the memorial in Monument Park. This act paid tribute to the victims, as well as the brave firefighters, rescuers, and emergency personnel.

“It’s something you truly feel. Honoring the victims, the Pentagon, the Twin Towers, the rescue dogs, and the firefighters is a very significant experience every time we do it,” Boone commented.

The organization issued an official statement highlighting the memory of those who lost their lives, the heroism of those who risked their lives, and those who died from illnesses related to the events of Ground Zero. It was emphasized that their spirit endures in the emergency services and in all those who serve the community and the country. A highlight was the visit of former President Donald Trump, accompanied by club owner Hal Steinbrenner and team president Randy Levine. This was the third time a sitting president has attended a game at Yankee Stadium, and the first at the stadium inaugurated in 2009. The tribute also evoked historical moments, such as the ceremonial launch by former President George W. Bush in Game 3 of the 2001 World Series, and President Warren G. Harding’s visit to the old stadium in 1923. As part of the tribute, the Yankees’ uniformed personnel wore caps from first responder agencies, in a gesture of respect and solidarity towards the heroes of September 11th.
