Yankees Dominate the Mets in the Subway Series

New York – The New York Yankees triumphed in the Subway Series, defeating the Mets in two of the three games played this weekend. The series concluded with a resounding 8-2 victory on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

Cody Bellinger was the star of the game, hitting a grand slam in the eighth inning, driving in six runs for the Yankees. A error by first baseman Pete Alonso allowed Jasson Domínguez to score the tie-breaking run, followed by an RBI single by Paul Goldschmidt. Bellinger’s home run, against left-hander Génesis Cabrera, was the ninth of his career.

Juan Soto’s Bitter Return to the Bronx

Juan Soto’s return to the Bronx, now with the Mets after signing a record contract, was less than memorable. Soto was booed throughout the series and on Sunday went 0-4 with two strikeouts, finishing with one hit in ten at-bats and four walks.

The Dominican outfielder failed to hit consistently against the opposing pitching, feeling the hostility of the public that saw him leave as one of their offensive figures.

A Duel with a Spectacular Setting

Sunday’s match had a full house of 48,028 spectators. Among those in attendance were figures such as Albert Pujols, Russell Wilson, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

On the mound, Max Fried and David Peterson starred in a balanced duel, both allowing only three hits in six innings. However, Fried had the support of an explosive offense from his team.

The series leaves the Yankees with an advantage in this interleague rivalry, which will continue from July 4 to 6 at Citi Field in Queens.
