New York Yankees Unleash Historic Offense with Nine Runs in an Inning

Yankee Stadium witnessed an unprecedented offensive spectacle on Wednesday, as the New York Yankees managed to score nine runs in a single inning, an episode that lasted 41 minutes, sealing a dominant 11-2 victory over the Washington Nationals. The offensive explosion began in the third inning with a single by Ben Rice, and quickly intensified with back-to-back home runs by Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger. Judge’s home run traveled 424 feet to center field, marking his forty-first home run of the season, while Bellinger followed with a 410-foot hit, his number 25 of 2025. Nationals’ starting pitcher Cade Cavalli faced eight batters before being punished with a three-run home run by Ryan McMahon, which took him off the mound after allowing eight runs, seven of them earned. In total, the Yankees sent 15 batters to the plate in that inning, accumulating eight hits, three walks, and a catcher interference play that prolonged the attack. The offensive included a second home run by Ben Rice in the same inning, marking the third time this season that New York hit four home runs in a single inning, a historic record in Major League Baseball.

“It was impressive, that’s called hitting,” declared manager Aaron Boone after the game.

Judge, for his part, highlighted the team’s mentality: “We all had good turns, passing the baton without trying to do too much”.

Starting pitcher Max Fried (14-5) earned the victory after a solid performance on the mound, backed by an offense that has already hit 10 home runs in its last three games. With this result, the Yankees completed the series with a sweep over Washington and extended their streak to 11 wins in their last 15 games, solidifying themselves as one of the strongest teams in the American League.
