World Aquatics has announced the suspension of the Diving World Cup stop that was to be held in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, from March 5 to 8. The decision was made after the recent events of violence that occurred in the region, following a federal operation against the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

This decision has been made after a thorough evaluation of the risks in Zapopan and the state. The safety of athletes, coaches, and delegations is our top priority

The Mexican stage was part of the qualifying calendar for the World Super Final, scheduled from May 1 to 3 in Beijing. With the cancellation, the qualifying criteria will be adjusted, taking as a reference the results of the stop in Montreal. This suspension occurs at a time when Jalisco is under international attention due to the recent outbreak of violence. World Aquatics recognized the organizational effort of the Mexican authorities and left open the possibility that Zapopan could host future events when security conditions allow. With this measure, the organization prioritizes the integrity of the competitors and keeps the development of its upcoming international commitments under evaluation.
