Seranthony Dominguez Bolsters the White Sox Bullpen
The Chicago White Sox have reached a two-year, $20 million agreement with Dominican reliever Seranthony Domínguez, according to sources close to the negotiations. The deal has not yet been made official by the organization.
Domínguez, 30 years old, arrives in Chicago after becoming a free agent, established as a reliable arm for high-pressure situations. Known for his powerful fastball and experience in decisive scenarios, the right-hander has seven seasons in the Major Leagues and a total of 40 saves.
In the past season, Domínguez was key in the Toronto Blue Jays’ bullpen, a team he joined after a trade. With the Blue Jays, he recorded an ERA of 3.00 in 24 regular season appearances, before taking on an important role in the postseason.
During the playoffs, the Dominican pitcher participated in 12 games, with a 2-0 record and an earned run average of 3.18, standing out for his ability to get out of difficult situations, including a decisive performance in the tenth inning of Game 7 of the World Series.
Domínguez has participated in the postseason in four consecutive seasons, including his stints with the Philadelphia Phillies (2022-23), Baltimore Orioles (2024), and Blue Jays (2025), experience that strengthens the profile of the reliever acquired by the White Sox.
Regarding his individual performance, the right-hander is known for his ability to generate strikeouts. In the past campaign, he accumulated 79 strikeouts in 62.2 innings, for a rate of 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings, the highest since his rookie year in 2018. However, control has been an aspect to improve, after registering 5.2 walks per nine innings, the highest figure of his career in a single season.
With this signing, Chicago seeks to strengthen its bullpen with a pitcher proven in demanding scenarios, looking ahead to the next Major League season.
