San Cristóbal was the epicenter of basketball this Sunday, marking the start of the semifinal phase of the Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS San Cristóbal 2025). The Buitres de Lavapiés and Lobos de Canastica teams achieved crucial victories, taking the lead in their respective best-of-three series. The atmosphere in the city’s covered sports center was electrifying, with fans who vibrated with every play.

Lavapiés Vultures Dominate Pueblo Nuevo

In the first match of the day, the Buitres de Lavapiés demonstrated their power by defeating Pueblo Nuevo with a final score of 102 to 83. From the first quarter, the Buitres imposed their rhythm, making their aspiration for the title clear. Jeison Colomé was the standout player of the match, with an impressive performance of 35 points and 13 rebounds. His combination of strength, skill, and game vision was decisive. Rey Abad also shone with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Jeremy Rivera contributed 21 points with excellent effectiveness from long distance. By Pueblo Nuevo, Gerardo Suero led the offense with 34 points, but the lack of defensive and offensive support took its toll. Rubén Mejía added 18 points, but they were not enough to counter the attack of the Vultures.

Canastica Wolves prevail in a close match against Ciro Pérez

In the second game of the night, the Lobos de Canastica defeated Club Ciro Pérez with a score of 94 to 88, thus securing the lead in their semifinal series. The match was full of emotions and kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Edgar Tejeda led the Wolves’ offense with 31 points, demonstrating his ability to score in key moments. Juan Rosario also had an outstanding performance with 29 points. Jonathan Araujo was close to a triple-double, recording 14 points, 17 rebounds, and 9 assists, being fundamental on both sides of the court. By Ciro Pérez, Juan Guerrero achieved a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds. Alejandro De los Santos and José “Tongo” Corporán contributed 18 and 16 points, respectively, but their efforts were not enough against the depth and execution of the Lobos in the final minutes.
