SANTO DOMINGO – Major League star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., will wear the Dominican Republic uniform for the first time in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This comes after successfully completing all the necessary requirements for his official incorporation into the national team.

The news was confirmed by the Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom), which highlighted the importance of including the outstanding batter from the Toronto Blue Jays, one of the most prominent offensive figures in Major League Baseball.

Guerrero Jr. is shaping up to be a key piece in the Dominican lineup, contributing power, consistency, and run production. These qualities have established him as one of the most feared hitters in today’s baseball.

Son of Cooperstown Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero, the first baseman will make his awaited debut in the Classic after several outstanding seasons in MLB, with outstanding performances in both batting average and home runs.

With its integration, the Dominican selection reinforces an elite talent core, to which Sandy Alcántara, Fernando Tatis Jr., Oneil Cruz and Cristopher Sánchez have already joined, forming an offensive and pitching staff of high impact in the search for the world title.

The sixth edition of the World Baseball Classic, which will feature the participation of 20 nations and territories, will be held from March 5 to 17, 2026, in venues in Japan, the United States, and Puerto Rico.
