United States Bolsters Pitching for World Baseball Classic Quarterfinals

The United States selection has made strategic adjustments to its pitching staff for the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, seeking to strengthen its bullpen for the crucial phase of the tournament.

The American team dispensed with the services of pitchers Tarik Skubal, Michael Wacha and Ryan Yarbrough, who will not continue in the championship.

Instead, relievers Will Vest, Tyler Rogers, and Tim Hill were integrated into the team, who will provide greater solidity to the bullpen for the decisive moments of the games.

Skubal pitched in three innings during the United States’ victory over Great Britain on March 7, but chose to return to the Detroit Tigers camp and not continue in the tournament.

The inclusion of Vest, Rogers, and Hill provides new options for the American manager from the bullpen, especially in closing situations. During last season of the Major Leagues, the three limited opposing hitters to an OPS of .640 or less.
