University Baseball League Semifinals Kick Off with Exciting Matchups
Santo Domingo – The fourth edition of the University Baseball League, organized by the Directorate of the National Baseball Commissioner (DCNB), begins its semifinals this Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon. The teams will compete for the coveted Banreservas Cup.
The matches will be held in a best-of-three format (3-2), promising a highly competitive and exciting phase for fans.
In this crucial stage, the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) will face the Universidad Católica Tecnológica de Barahona (UCATEBA) in its stadium. Simultaneously, the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNAPEC) will visit the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in its park.
For Saturday’s matchday, a single match has been scheduled. The remaining matches, if necessary, will be played on Sunday.
UASD, UNAPEC, and PUCMM secured their spots in the semifinals after leading their respective groups during the regular season. UCATEBA secured its place by surpassing O&M by run difference, after both teams finished with a 7-5 record and tied in wins in the head-to-head series. The classification was defined by the number of runs scored between them: UCATEBA scored 14 runs, while O&M scored 11.
The teams that are victorious in these series will advance to the grand final, which will be played in a best-of-five format (5-3).
The director of the DCNB, Junior Noboa, expressed his gratitude for the support provided to the tournament, highlighting the backing of the Ministry of the Presidency, led by José Ignacio Paliza, as well as that of BanReservas, Farmacia GBC, Comedores Económicos and Bandex.
