Towns, injured in eye, key in epic Knicks vs Nuggets victory

New York – Dominican center Karl-Anthony Towns suffered a cut above his right eye during the match between the New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets, where the home team won 134-127 after two overtime periods, on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

Towns’ injury occurred in the first quarter of the game, specifically when he was heading towards the basket and collided with Spencer Jones. The impact, which occurred with 30.8 seconds remaining in the first period, caused a visible wound on his face.

After receiving medical attention on the court and being bandaged, Towns returned to the game and scored the corresponding free throws before heading to the locker room for a more thorough evaluation.

Despite the incident, the Dominican player returned to action and finished the game with 24 points and 12 rebounds in 31 minutes, demonstrating his importance in New York’s victory in a high-demand duel.

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks’ offense with 42 points and nine assists, while OG Anunoby and Landry Shamet contributed 20 and 16 points, respectively.

For the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic achieved a triple-double with 30 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, and Jamal Murray scored 39 points.

So far, the Knicks have not provided information on the severity of Towns’ cut.
