Santo Domingo – Los Toros del Este are refining their strategy for the second week of the 2025-2026 autumn-winter baseball tournament, confirming the expected incorporation of Eloy Jiménez, one of the team’s most outstanding offensive figures.

Defined Rotation

Manager Victor Estevez has defined the pitching rotation for the upcoming games. The left-hander Matt Dermody will take the mound this Tuesday at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, facing the Tigres del Licey in the start of a two-game miniseries. On Wednesday, Nicaraguan Carlos Rodríguez will be in charge of pitching when the Blues visit the Francisco Micheli Stadium in La Romana. After a day of rest on Thursday, the Toros will face the Gigantes del Cibao on Friday, with Aaron Sánchez as the starting pitcher. Sánchez arrives with an outstanding previous performance, limiting the opposing offense to a single hit in five innings. On Saturday, Aaron Brooks will make his first start of the season in La Romana, after missing his previous turn due to illness. Richelson Peña will close the week on Sunday, facing Escogido again at the Micheli, after a solid previous performance.

Eloy Jiménez Debut

The anticipation grows with the debut of Eloy Jiménez, known as “Big Baby”, who will debut with the taurine team this Tuesday against the Licey. Jiménez, acquired in a trade last season, will bring his experience and offensive power to the team. With 28 years old, Jiménez adds his fourth season in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), after standing out with the Gigantes del Cibao, where he achieved an offensive average of .346/.420/.571, with six home runs and 30 RBIs in 36 games. In the Major Leagues, the outfielder has accumulated 95 home runs and 298 RBIs in six seasons with the Chicago White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles, with a batting average of .269 in 534 games. With the incorporation of Jimenez and a solid rotation, the Toros del Este will seek to remain competitive in the tournament, dedicated to Juan Marichal.
