Pittsburgh – The Pittsburgh Steelers have reported that their outstanding defensive player, Trent Jordan (TJ) Watt, was hospitalized due to a lung injury suffered during team training. The news was confirmed this Thursday, generating concern among the fans and the coaching staff.
Watt, 31, has been a key piece in the Steelers’ defense since his arrival in the 2017 Draft. The linebacker, originally from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, has been selected seven times for the Pro Bowl and has received four All-Pro designations. Watt shares with Michael Strahan the record for most sacks in a season, with 22.5, demonstrating his dominance in the NFL. In the current season, Watt has 53 tackles and seven sacks in 13 games. Watt’s participation in the next game against the Miami Dolphins is uncertain. The team has confirmed that Watt will not participate in training while under medical observation, which casts doubt on his presence in the Monday night game. In his NFL career, Watt has recorded 515 tackles, 115 sacks, 36 forced fumbles, 14 recoveries, eight interceptions, 56 passes defended, and one defensive touchdown in 134 games. In addition to the shared record for catches in a season, he also holds the record for most seasons leading the league in catches (3) and is the only player to achieve this in consecutive years.“TJ Watt is currently at a local hospital for a medical evaluation of his lung after experiencing discomfort at the training facility. Coach Mike Tomlin will offer more details in due course”
