Southern Titans Secure Their Spot in the Elimination Phase of the LNB Super League 2025
San Pedro de Macorís – The Southern Titans achieved a crucial victory over the Eastern Suns with a score of 78-70, securing their place in the Elimination Phase of the LNB Super League 2025, which grants the option to the BanReservas Cup.
Mustapha Heron led the Titans’ attack with an outstanding performance, accumulating 23 points and showing impressive accuracy from the three-point line, with 5 out of 6 successful attempts.
Jonathan Araujo also had an outstanding performance, achieving a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chad Brown contributed 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Jassel Pérez and Richard Bautista scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.
On the Suns’ side, Tristan Jarrett was the most outstanding player with 14 points. Jean Quezada contributed 12 points and 8 rebounds, Dimas Carrasco added 10 points and 8 rebounds, and London Johnson also scored 10 points.
The representation of San Cristóbal concluded its participation in the regular round with a 7-7 record, securing third place in the standings, behind the leaders Cañeros del Este and Metros de Santiago, who recorded an 8-5 record.
The Eastern Suns concluded the regular season with a 6-8 record, placing them in fourth place. The team awaited Friday’s final results to determine their position in the quest for one of the six available playoff spots.
The top six teams will advance to the Elimination Phase, where they will maintain their win-loss record.
The meeting took place at the Rolando Ramírez sports center, located in the Tomás Binet Sports Complex, in the city of San Pedro de Macorís, official headquarters of the Soles.
Carlos Morbán, coach of the Titans, guided the team to the playoffs, after taking the reins with a 3-4 record and leading them to a final 7-7 balance.
Yoel Feliz, coach of the Suns, recorded a 5-3 record (3-1 at home and 2-2 away) since his arrival at the team, after receiving it with a 1-5 record.
The partial scores of the match were 11-27, 23-21, 19-17 and 17-13.
The Titans dominated the first half of the game, achieving a 14-point lead, with a score of 48-34. They stood out in the first period with a score of 27-11, but the Suns reacted in the second quarter, shortening the distance to 23-21.
In the first half, Mustapha Heron led the Titans’ offense with 14 points, followed by Chad Brown with 11. Jonathan Araujo contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Jassel Pérez and Richard Bautista scored 5 and 4 points, respectively.
