Abadina Announces the 2026 Women’s Superior Tournament

The National District Basketball Association (Abadina) has confirmed the celebration of the 40th Women’s Superior Basketball Tournament (TBSF Distrito 2026). The event, which promises to be a sporting spectacle, is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 22nd of this year and will have the Seaboard Cup as a prize. The dedication of this edition falls on Doña Milagros Ortiz Bosch, a prominent figure in Dominican politics and current general director of Governmental Ethics and Integrity (DIGEIG). Edwin Castillo (Tatico), president of Abadina, offered details about the competition, where the clubs San Carlos, current champion, will face Mauricio Báez, San Lázaro and La Ciénega. The matches will take place in the sports center of the Ensanche Luperón club.

On the opening day, La Ciénaga and San Lázaro will face each other, followed by the opening ceremony and the match between San Carlos and Mauricio Báez.

The official presentation took place in the James Rodríguez conference hall of the Ministry of Sports. It was attended by important figures from the sports and political fields. During the press conference, the appointment of congresswoman Melina Sánchez as president of the TBS Women’s 2026 Organizing Committee was announced. In addition, the realization of an All-Star Game was communicated. Carlos Gerónimo informed about the match schedule, which will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 6:00 PM, and Saturdays with a double header from 4:00 PM. Teams can have two national reinforcements and two U20 players. The regular season will consist of three rounds, with each team playing nine games. The team that obtains first place will advance directly to the final, while the second and third place teams will play a best-of-3-2 semifinal. The final, for the championship, will be played as a best-of-5-3.
