Tapia and Mendoza: Stars and Eagles take home LIDOM Week MVP

SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) has announced the most outstanding players of the week of November 19-23, 2025, in the fifth installment of the awards presented by Ron Ozama.

Raimel Tapia and Abdiel Mendoza, the MVPs of the Week

Raimel Tapia, outfielder for the Estrellas Orientales, and Abdiel Mendoza, pitcher for the Águilas Cibaeñas, were the recognized players. Tapia receives this award for the first time in his career, while Mendoza adds the 19th MVP selection for an Águilas player, a record since the league took over the election in the 2022-23 season.

Tapia: Batting Dominance

The outfielder for the Estrellas Orientales was the offensive figure of the week, obtaining 60 votes from the 111 journalists who participated. Tapia achieved a batting average of .458, with 11 hits in 24 at-bats, five RBIs, 15 bases reached, and an outstanding offensive line:

  • SLG: .625
  • OPS: 1.083
This is the seventh time a Stars player has received this weekly distinction since 2022.

Mendoza: Shining on the Montículo

The Panamanian pitcher of the Águilas Cibaeñas, Abdiel Mendoza, received 65 votes.

He is the third Panamanian to win this award, following in the footsteps of Paolo Espino (2023-24) and Johan Camargo (2022-23).

Recognition for Celestino and Gavin

In the ceremony, the most outstanding players of the previous week were also honored.

Celestino received his award from the hands of Jesus Mejia, general manager of the Bulls, while Gavin was recognized by Jose Gomez Frias, director of the Lions. LIDOM also gave special recognitions to journalists José Antonio Mena, Marcos Sánchez and José Ramón Genao (Moi).
