Richard Bautista Leads Southern Titans to Victory Over Mariners in Thrilling Duel

PUERTO PLATA – In an encounter full of emotion, Richard Bautista had a stellar debut, guiding the Titanes del Sur to a 76-74 victory over the Marineros de Puerto Plata in the Super Liga LNB game held this Sunday at the Fabio Rafael González Sports Center. Bautista stood out with 19 crucial points for the Titans, who now have a record of 6-8, with two dates pending to be played. The Mariners, with a record of 7-8, were left at the gates of qualification. The end of the game was dramatic. With only 10 seconds on the clock, the Mariners had the opportunity to take the lead or tie, but their three-point attempts were unsuccessful, ending the match with a score of 74-76. The lack of success in free throws, with 16 misses out of 37 attempts, was a determining factor in Puerto Plata’s defeat. The game’s partial scores were 22-23, 22-14, 19-22 and 13-15, showing the Titans’ consistency throughout the match. Shawn Williams scored 10 points, and Jhonatan Araujo contributed nine points and eight rebounds for the winners. For the Mariners, Anderson García scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds; Luis Feliz added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Emmanuel Omogbo finished with 10 units. The Titans had a 39% field goal percentage (27-69), 34 rebounds, 11 assists, and a 71% free throw percentage (12 of 17). The absence of Emmanuel Omogbo, due to personal fouls, was taken advantage of by the Titans to take control of the game in the first half, which they won by seven points (44-37).

Although the Mariners led the first period by one point (23-22), they had difficulties scoring, with a 31% field goal percentage (10 of 32) and only two three-pointers converted out of 14 attempts (14%).

The Titans, for their part, achieved a 52% field goal percentage (17 of 33) and a 53% three-point percentage (8 of 15).
