Juan Soto Leads Mets to Snow-Marked Victory
Denver, Colorado – Dominican Juan Soto ignited the New York Mets’ offense, hitting the first home run of his career opening a game. The Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies with a score of 10-5 at Coors Field, in a game that was interrupted by an unusual snowstorm that forced a 48-hour suspension.
The Mets, showing a notable improvement after a difficult streak, achieved their fourth win in five games, demonstrating their offensive power in Denver.
Soto, batting first for the second consecutive game, sent the ball out of the park in the first inning against Michael Lorenzen. This home run marked a milestone in his career as a starting player in a game.
New York’s lead expanded in the fourth inning with a two-run single by Carson Benge and another run driven in by Luis Torrens.
The Mets’ offense continued its dominance in the sixth inning, scoring four runs thanks to hits from Francisco Álvarez and Bo Bichette. Marcus Semien sealed the victory with a two-run home run in the ninth inning.
All Mets hitters reached base at least once, and five players finished with multiple hits.
Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta pitched five scoreless innings, securing the victory. The offense backed up his performance, despite Colorado’s reaction, which scored four runs in the sixth inning against reliever Tobias Myers.
The victory came after a winter storm covered Denver in snow, forcing the temporary suspension of the series.
