OKLAHOMA CITY – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, star of the Oklahoma City Thunder and current NBA MVP, will not be present at the 2026 All-Star Game due to an abdominal injury, the franchise announced this Tuesday. The player will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, scheduled for next week, as he continues his recovery process. Gilgeous-Alexander did not play in the final quarter of Oklahoma City’s victory against the Orlando Magic (128-92). In that game, his participation was in doubt due to a sprained finger, according to the official injury report. The abdominal injury will prevent him from competing in the All-Star game, which will take place on February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the new home of the Los Angeles Clippers. This was going to be the fourth time the Canadian would participate in an All-Star Game, and he had been selected as a starter after the combined vote of the public, the media, and the league players.
Gilgeous-Alexander was going to represent Team World in an All-Star game that this year will present an innovative format, with a round robin mini-tournament between three teams: two from the United States (Stars and Stripes) and one international. The two best teams would advance to the final, leaving behind the traditional duel between the Eastern and Western conferences.
