Seranthony Domínguez Bolsters the Dominican Roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Dominican pitcher Seranthony Domínguez has been confirmed as part of the Dominican Republic team that will compete in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This addition reinforces the national team’s commitment to having a high-caliber pitching staff for the international tournament.

Domínguez, 31 years old, has established himself as a consistent reliever in the Major Leagues. His ability to perform under pressure and his experience in key roles as a setup man and closer will be valuable to the team led by Albert Pujols.

Recently, Domínguez signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Chicago White Sox. His arrival brings experience of having been a key player in the bullpens of contending teams in the last seasons of the Majors.

Domínguez joins a group of already confirmed talents on the Dominican roster, including figures like Sandy Alcántara, Cristopher Sánchez, Fernando Tatis Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Oneil Cruz. This combination promises both offensive power and pitching solidity for the competition.

This will be Domínguez’s first participation with the Dominican team in the World Baseball Classic, adding a new chapter to his international career after excelling in the Major Leagues for seven seasons.

The Dominican Republic, which will play the group stage at the Miami Marlins stadium as part of Group D, will face Venezuela, Nicaragua, the Netherlands, and Israel. The goal is to conquer the world title for the second time in its history, after the victory in 2013.
