Santo Domingo vs. Santiago: Clash of Titans for the Robinson Canó Cup Crown!

Santo Domingo, D.N.- Santo Domingo Province remains undefeated and advances to the grand final of the Sixth U12 National Championship “Robinson Canó Cup”. It will face the Santiago team this Sunday, May 11, at the Rafael Pichardo Stadium of the La Farándula League in the capital, an event dedicated to Vitelio Mejía Ortiz.

Santo Domingo will seek to defend its title, obtained precisely against Valverde in 2024.

Erick Claudio has been the standout figure for Santo Domingo, propelling the team to the final with three consecutive victories. In the last game, Claudio shone with a 2-2, including two home runs and five RBIs.

Although Santiago suffered a defeat against San Cristóbal by knockout (12-2), they managed to qualify for the final as leaders of group B.

In the game between San Cristobal and Santiago, Alonso Gonzalez de San Cristobal stood out by pitching four innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out three opponents.

For the Bronze

The bronze medal dispute will be between La Romana and San Pedro de Macorís, both with a record of 2-1.

La Romana secured its place by defeating Provincia Duarte 3-2, with Henlly Morales as the player of the game. Morales pitched 5 and a third innings, allowing two runs and striking out one batter.

In the same event, Nelson Cruz, general manager of the Dominican team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

San Pedro de Macorís earned the right to compete for the bronze by defeating Barahona 20-10. Luis Manuel Parra was key for his team, batting 3-5, with 5 RBIs and a home run.

The final standings of the tournament are as follows:

  • Group A: Santo Domingo (3-0), San Pedro de Macorís (2-1), Valverde (2-1), and Barahona (0-3).
  • Group B: Santiago (2-1), La Romana (2-1), Duarte (1-2), and San Cristóbal (1-2).

From this championship, the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (Lidom) will select the team that will represent the country in the second Caribbean Series Kids in Venezuela in June. This same team will compete in the WBSC U-12 World Cup 2025 in Chinese Taipei, from July 27 to August 3.
