SANTO DOMINGO – The bat of Dominican Gary Sánchez roared again, but couldn’t prevent the defeat of the Milwaukee Brewers, who fell 8-6 to the Washington Nationals. The Nationals completed a sweep they hadn’t achieved against Milwaukee in 15 years.

Sánchez shines with the bat

Gary Sánchez hit his fourth home run of the season in the seventh inning, a hit that drove in three runs and momentarily tied the score. The catcher finished the game with a run scored and three RBIs, raising his batting average to .273, with eight runs batted in so far this season. But Washington’s response was immediate. In the eighth episode, Venezuelan Keibert Ruiz hit a two-run single that broke the tie and led the Nationals to victory. Previously, the capital team had taken the lead with a four-run rally in the seventh inning, against relievers Abner Uribe and Ángel Zerpa, who took the loss. For Milwaukee, Brice Turang hit two solo home runs, and Jake Bauers also went over the fence. Despite this, the Brewers suffered their fifth consecutive loss, the worst streak since June 2023. James Wood continued his good streak for Washington, hitting a home run for the fourth time in his last seven games. The victory allowed the Nationals to complete their first sweep against Milwaukee since 2011, and the first on Wisconsin soil since June 2006, in a series that demonstrated the good offensive performance of the capital team.
