Gary Sánchez Shines with Home Run, but the Brewers Fall to the Nationals

SANTO DOMINGO – Dominican batter Gary Sánchez demonstrated his offensive power, but his efforts were not enough to prevent the defeat of the Milwaukee Brewers, who succumbed 8-6 to the Washington Nationals. The Nationals completed a sweep that they had not achieved against Milwaukee for 15 years.

Sánchez hit his fourth home run of the season in the seventh inning, a hit that drove in three runs and momentarily tied the score. The catcher finished the game with a run scored and three RBIs, raising his batting average to .273, with eight runs batted in so far this season.

However, Washington’s response was immediate. In the eighth inning, Venezuelan Keibert Ruiz hit a two-run single that broke the tie and secured the victory for the Nationals.

Previously, the capital team had taken the lead with a four-run rally in the seventh inning, against relievers Abner Uribe and Ángel Zerpa, the latter taking the loss.

By Milwaukee, Brice Turang shined with two solo home runs, while Jake Bauers also hit a home run. Despite these efforts, the Brewers suffered their fifth consecutive loss, their worst streak since June 2023.

James Wood continued his good streak with Washington, connecting a home run, the fourth in his last seven games.

The victory allowed the Nationals to complete their first sweep against Milwaukee since 2011, and the first in Wisconsin territory since June 2006, demonstrating the good offensive performance of the team from the capital.
