Santiago, Dominican Republic – The Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana, through its executive president, Dr. Leonardo Aguilera, paid a well-deserved tribute to Winston Llenas, a legend of Dominican baseball, in a commemorative event for the 93 years of history of the Águilas Cibaeñas.
A Recognition of the Career
The ceremony, held at the Banreservas Cultural Center, highlighted the outstanding sporting and leadership career of “Chilote” Llenas, an iconic figure of the Cibao team and Dominican professional baseball.
Aguilera highlighted the discipline, leadership, and pride that Llenas has represented for the national sport.
Aguilera emphasized the importance of Llenas as a symbol of the national sport, underlining his fundamental role within the organization of the Aguilas Cibaeñas.
Upon receiving the distinction, he expressed his gratitude to the Banco de Reservas, noting that the recognition is an honor for both him and the organization of the Águilas Cibaeñas, to which he has dedicated a large part of his life.
The event was also attended by Dr. Carmen Alicia Quijano de Aguilera, president of the Banreservas Volunteer Program, along with former baseball players, athletes, and personalities linked to baseball who shared important moments with Llenas throughout his career.
This tribute is part of a special activity that highlights the rich history and legacy of the Águilas Cibaeñas, one of the most emblematic and successful teams in Dominican professional baseball, which has been a benchmark for the sport in the Cibao region for more than nine decades.
