Robbie Ray Shines on the Mound: Giants Prevail Over Diamondbacks

In a memorable day, Robbie Ray displayed his best version on the mound, guiding the San Francisco Giants to a resounding victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks with a score of 7-2. The match, played at Chase Field, served to split the series between both teams. Ray, showcasing a dominant performance, threw his first complete game in eight years. The lefty, with an impeccable performance, needed only 102 pitches to complete the nine innings. His performance included retiring the first 12 batters of the game and only allowed three hits, two of them solo home runs. In addition, he gave up one walk and struck out seven. The veteran pitcher, who played for the Diamondbacks between 2015 and 2020, faced his former team with great determination. Ray, winner of the American League Cy Young Award in 2021 with Toronto, demonstrated his quality against a lineup he knew well.

It’s always special to pitch in this stadium. I have great memories here, but today I came to do my job, and everything worked out.

The Giants’ offense backed their starter from the start. Puerto Rico’s Heliot Ramos drove in the first run with a double in the first inning, followed by a sacrifice fly from Jung Hoo Lee. The team added two more runs in the fourth inning and sealed the victory with three runs in the seventh. In terms of offense, Rafael Devers led with three RBIs, while Willy Adames and Heliot Ramos contributed multiple hits. Adames finished with an outstanding 4-3 performance, with three runs scored and one RBI. Brandon Pfaadt took the loss, allowing four runs in six innings. For the Diamondbacks, Eugenio Suárez hit his 27th home run of the season and Ketel Marte added another home run in the ninth inning. With this victory, the Giants close the series strongly in Arizona, consolidating their position in the fight for the postseason.
