HIGÜEY, LA ALTAGRACIA – The excitement of superior basketball continues in Higüey. The teams San José and San Francisco achieved victories in the second date of the 50th Superior Basketball Tournament Altagraciano (TBS Higüey 2025), held in the Leo Tavárez sports center.
The tournament, which has the Punta Cana Cup as its main sponsor (Grupo Puntacana), is organized by the Basketball Association of La Altagracia Province (ABAPA), chaired by Jorge Tavárez. This edition is dedicated to Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte, Bishop of the Diocese of Our Lady of La Altagracia.
San José maintains its winning streak
The San José club (2-0) secured its second consecutive victory by defeating the Antonio Guzmán club (0-2) with a score of 94-85. Antonio Gordon, an imported player from San José, led the offense with 32 points. Luis Peña contributed 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Joan Paniagua added 13 points. For the opposing team, Bryan De la Cruz stood out with 41 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Jeremy Sarmiento scored 9 points.
San Francisco debuts with victory
The San Francisco team (1-0) obtained its first victory of the tournament by defeating Cambelén (0-1) with a score of 84-75. Jeff Allen, San Francisco’s reinforcement, was key with 24 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Yorky Mota contributed 23 points and 6 rebounds, Roel López scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists, and Leoanny Reynoso achieved 10 points and 10 rebounds. In the Cambelén team, José Luis De la Cruz scored 18 points, Dazon Ingram (imported) added 16 points and 14 rebounds, Francisco Campusano achieved 12 points and 15 rebounds, and Nathanael Bonet contributed 16 points.
