George Russell Wins the Canadian Grand Prix
British driver George Russell, behind the wheel of a Mercedes, won the Canadian Grand Prix, corresponding to the tenth date of the Formula One world championship. The exciting race took place at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal this Sunday.
Russell, 27 years old, started from pole position and achieved his fourth victory in Formula 1, this being the first of the season. The Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), four-time world champion, and the young Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli, also from Mercedes, completed the podium.
Antonelli, at just 18 years old, achieved his first podium in the premier category, demonstrating his talent and potential.
The race was marked by the intervention of the safety car due to the incident of Lando Norris (McLaren), who was trying to overtake his teammate, Oscar Piastri, with three laps to go.
Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) achieved his best result of the season, finishing in seventh position. Carlos Sainz (Williams) starred in an outstanding comeback, advancing six places to finish tenth.
Oscar Piastri, championship leader, consolidated his position at the top. The two Ferraris, driven by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
The next Grand Prix, the Austrian one, will be held on June 29 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Styria.
