Rouco Will Manage Marineros de Pto. Plata in the LNB: Luxury Reinforcement

Puerto Plata, RD – The Puerto Plata Mariners have officially hired Sergio Rouco as their new manager for the upcoming season of the National Basketball League (LNB).

Rouco, recognized for his leadership, discipline, and vast experience in basketball, takes on the challenge of leading the franchise. The main objective is to consolidate its competitive identity and take the team to the top of the tournament.

The Mariners’ management emphasized that Rouco’s arrival is an integral part of the organization’s sports consolidation plan. They are betting on a manager with a strategic vision of the game, the ability to develop talent, and effective group management.

“We are very pleased to have Sergio Rouco. We trust that his experience and work philosophy fit perfectly with the project we are building,” expressed Hugo Jose Gonzalez, president of the franchise.

The Cuban coach has an extensive career in US college basketball, where he coached the International University of Florida (2004-2009). He has also been an assistant at Mississippi, South Florida, Austin Peay State and Samford.

In Venezuela, he coached Trotamundos in 1996 and Marinos de Anzoátegui in 2010. In El Salvador, he was in charge of Salvadoreños in 2024. Additionally, he had a brief stint in the superior basketball of the National District, with Club Mauricio Baez (1995) and Los Minas (1996).

The Marineros de Puerto Plata continue working on the details of their preparation for the upcoming LNB season, which will begin in April. The team has its sights set on obtaining positive results and strengthening the connection with its loyal fans.
