Ronny Mauricio gives the Tigres del Licey the victory with a dramatic home run
Santo Domingo – In an emotional encounter, the Tigres del Licey defeated the Leones del Escogido with a score of 6-5, thanks to a decisive home run by Ronny Mauricio in the bottom of the tenth inning.
The game, held at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, kept fans on the edge of their seats with constant changes in the score.
With this victory, the Tigers improve their record to 16-20, while the Lions fall to 15-22.
A Promising Start for the Lions
The Leones del Escogido took the lead early in the game, scoring in the first inning thanks to a single by Erik González and a hit by Sócrates Brito.
Licey responds and ties the game
The Tigers didn’t fall behind and responded in the third inning. Francisco Mejía singled, followed by a stolen base by Esteury Ruiz and a run-scoring hit by Gustavo Núñez. Cristhian Adames added another run with a single, putting the score at 2-1.
Chosen Recovers Control
In the fourth inning, the Leones scored three runs, taking advantage of walks and consecutive doubles by Junior Lake and Franchy Cordero, in addition to hits by Eguy Rosario and José Marmolejos, taking a 4-2 lead.
Licey forces extra innings
With the score 5-3 in favor of the Escogido in the ninth inning, the Tigres attacked the opposing relief. Cal Stevenson and Michael De La Cruz drove in the runs needed to tie the game 5-5 and force extra innings.

Although a double by Luis de los Santos gave the Escogido the lead back in the tenth inning, the Tigres’ response was immediate. Ronny Mauricio hit a home run that sealed the 6-5 victory, unleashing euphoria in the stadium.
Mound Performance
Radhamés Liz pitched 3.0 innings for the Tigers, allowing five hits and four runs. Ofreidy Gómez, Luis Frías, Anderson Severino, Andrew Pérez, Misael Tamárez, and Jean Carlos Mejía also saw action, with Mejía taking the win.
