Junior Caminero leads the Rays’ comeback with a crucial home run
CHICAGO – Dominican Junior Caminero emerged as the key figure in the Tampa Bay Rays’ victory over the Chicago White Sox this Thursday, hitting a home run that fueled his team’s comeback, who won with a score of 5-3.
Caminero tied the game with his home run in the ninth inning, which triggered a two-run rally with the bases loaded, securing the victory for Tampa Bay and extending their winning streak to six consecutive games.
The Rays had to come back several times during the game, after being at a disadvantage at three different times.
Tampa Bay’s offense reacted against Chicago’s relief, especially against Seranthony Domínguez, who couldn’t hold the lead and left the mound after allowing Caminero’s home run, in addition to issuing walks that complicated the situation.
Lucas Sims also failed to contain the attack, conceding two consecutive walks that ended up tipping the balance in favor of Tampa Bay.
Previously, the White Sox had taken the lead with a home run by Miguel Vargas in the third inning, and Everson Pereira also contributed power with another home run in the eighth inning.
Regarding the pitching, Steven Matz pitched 5.1 innings for the Rays, allowing two runs, while the bullpen managed to control the opposing offense in the decisive moments.
With this victory, Tampa Bay improves its record to 11-7, while Chicago continues its losing streak, accumulating six consecutive home defeats after a promising start to the season.
