Dominican Republic Crushes Israel and Secures its Advance in the World Baseball Classic
Miami, USA – The Dominican Republic baseball team continues its overwhelming performance in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, after a resounding victory over Israel with a score of 10-1. This triumph not only secures their place in the quarterfinals, but also guarantees Venezuela’s qualification to the next round.
The Dominican team, maintaining its undefeated status in Group D with a 3-0 record, has demonstrated relentless offense and solid pitching, solidifying itself as one of the strongest teams in the tournament.
With this victory, the Dominican Republic accumulates 34 runs scored and only 5 allowed, achieving an impressive differential of +29. Venezuela also remains undefeated with a 3-0 record and a differential of +16.
Israel and the Netherlands, both with a 1-2 record, and Nicaragua, which fell to 0-4, were eliminated or without chances of advancing.
The Dominican triumph, in addition to securing its classification, guaranteed Venezuela’s pass to the next phase, so both teams already have their ticket to the quarterfinals.
Now, Group D enters its decisive phase with the expected match between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, scheduled for this Wednesday at 8:00 PM (Dominican Republic time) in the same Miami venue.
The match will define the first place in the group. The winner will advance as the leader of Pool D and will face the second-placed team from Group C in the quarterfinals.
On the other hand, the team that finishes in second place will have to face the powerful Japan, defending champion and undefeated in Group C, which would be a much greater challenge on the road to the title.
The clash promises to be one of the most attractive of the first round of the tournament, with two Latin American baseball powerhouses that have Major League figures such as Fernando Tatis Jr., Oneil Cruz and Manny Machado for the Dominican Republic, and Ronald Acuña Jr., Luis Arráez and José Altuve for Venezuela.
With the group’s lead at stake and a more favorable path to the championship, Wednesday’s duel in Miami promises an electrifying atmosphere between two of the favorites of the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
